Dumfries and Galloway College (DGC) student Lukasz Wiczling is looking to build himself a bright future after being named Apprentice Bricklayer of the Year 2023.
The 22-year-old, from Kirkcudbright, has been at the college for four years learning his trade, as well as working at GW Davidson Building Contractor – whose boss Gary Davidson also previously won Apprentice of the Year when he attended the college.
DGC’s Sustainable Construction team presented Lukasz with his award, while Graeme McWhir, from MKM Building Supplies, was also in attendance and presented Lukasz with a brick trowel set for him to use in his job.
“I am extremely grateful to be named best apprentice. The past four years have been incredibly engaging and challenging.
“I really appreciate all the help and advice I received from my college lecturers, and from my employer to allow me to be in a position to perform at my best.”
