Dumfries and Galloway College (DGC) is always proud to help local businesses put young people on the route to success — so providing a safe space for prospective ‘learner’ drivers to get road-ready was the perfect fit.
We are delighted to announce that Nexgen Driver Training, who won a national UK award for ‘Best Instructors and Community Engagement’ in 2023, will continue to have access to DGC’s car park this year for their ‘14 to 16-year-old Driver Training and Education Days’ programme.
Nexgen believes that the early education of young drivers, prior to the age of 17 when they are aged to legally drive on our roads on a provisional licence, will create a new generation of safer, forward thinking, pro-active drivers who will adopt safe driving behaviours for life.
The Nexgen instructors work with young people to educate them on areas such as practical driving skills, theory test support, basic car maintenance — and also provide them with an opportunity to meet representatives from Police Scotland and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service to learn more about road safety.
