Automotive Students Awarded for College Academy Success

Megan Raine, Patryk Jaszewski, and Jaimie Osborne received their awards, as well as a Halfords professional socket set and college-branded fleece, from Head Teacher, Mr Tuffery, during a ceremony at Kirkcudbright Academy.

The course provides a broad introduction to the automotive industry, where students learn how to carry out basic vehicle checks, how to replace and remove components, and gain an understanding of how to use tools and equipment.

Students on the course also gain an understanding of vital health and safety legislation.

All three students were praised by staff for their enthusiastic attitude and dedication to success on the course which was run as part of the college’s schools programme.

Each of the recipients was also praised for their diligence, with none of them ever having missed a single lesson or piece of work throughout the course.

Given the ongoing COVID-19 situation, the awards ceremony was conducted in full compliance with social distancing and other hygiene requirements.

Dumfries and Galloway College is incredibly proud of its students for having achieved this level of success, congratulates them on having completed their course, and wishes them every success for the future.

The South of Scotland college continues to be proud of its students’ record of engaging positively with local schools, businesses, and other stakeholders to help their community and build for themselves a well-rounded and skills-based education including valuable real-world experience.

Principal Joanna Campbell said:

“On behalf of Dumfries and Galloway College, I extend my congratulations to our students for having successfully completed this course to such a high standard.

“Each of them has shown dedication, commitment, and determination in order to achieve their success and should be incredibly proud of themselves.

“Our thanks also go to our valued partners and friends and Kirkcudbright Academy for their role in this programme; they can be assured that we prize our relationship with them and look forward to continuing to work together in the future.”
