When enrolling in your college course, you will need to have knowledge of the process in which you are paying for your course.
Each level of education and how you will be studying them differs on the method of paying.
Full Time Students
Courses at SCQF 6 and below are classed as Further Education which has tuition fees. This will be paid through the Scottish funding council with applied conditions or an arrangement with our financial team.
Tuition fees conditions
- You must be enrolled in full-time
- You must have been a resident of the EU including the UK for the last three years.
- From the 24th of August the year your course begins you must live in Scotland.
- Within a six-year time frame, you must have not received any funding at any level for more than three years.

Courses at SCQF Level 7 and above are classed as Higher Education which has tuition fees. This will be paid through a student loan company such as Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS). Students who qualify for loan payments should go through the SAAS website and apply.

Qualified Students
Students who qualify for student loans should apply to SAAS directly for their tuition fees to pay towards their course. Find out more information by clicking the link down below about applying for SAAS.
Self-Funding
If you do not qualify for tuition fees you will be asked during your online enrolment: “How are you paying your tuition fees”. You have two options for payment either you will need to self-finance by paying in full or in installments.
Self-financing – You will be paying the course fee in full however this must be done before you complete your application form.
Self-financing instalments – The first instalment of your tuition fees must be paid before completing your application form. Please contact our finance department to set up a standing order to pay your remaining instalments. Contact information is in the link just below.

Part Time Students
College Fee Waiver
Students who are enrolled on a Part-Time course either in Further Education or Higher Education can complete a College Fee Waiver form if they receive benefits that fulfill the residency requirements. This will cover the cost of your course. To do so please select Fee Waiver during your application form when asked how you are paying for your tuition.
You will need to provide evidence to get your course paid for by Fee Wavier in official documents. This could be from the following
- Department of Work and Pensions
- Local Authority
- JobCentre Plus
- Inland Revenue
- MoD
- Home Office
When filling out your form you will need to upload the relevant documents as evidence to your Fee Waiver, this information will then be checked by our Finance department.
SDS Training Account
You can receive funding of up to £200 towards a single course or training.

SAAS Part-time Fee grant
Students need to be accepted into a Higher Education course then they can apply for SAAS part-time Fee grant to cover your course fees. You will need to earn less £25,000 per year.
