Stranraer Campus

Close to Home. Open to Opportunity.

At Stranraer Campus, Dumfries & Galloway College, we believe education should be accessible, inclusive, and empowering. Whether you’re taking your first step into training, building on your existing skills, or preparing for a new career, we’re here to support you every step of the way.

The Stranraer Campus was created to provide modern, accessible further education facilities for people, businesses, and organisations across the west of the region.

It continues to play a vital role in meeting local needs by offering high-quality learning opportunities that support both individual goals and community development.

Courses and Opportunities

We’re proud to offer a wide range of programmes designed to help learners of all ages and stages.

These include:

Working Together for Opportunity

Partnerships are at the heart of what we do. By connecting with local employers, businesses, and community groups, we make sure our students gain real-world experience while the community benefits from new skills and fresh energy.

Together with our partners, we are creating pathways that benefit students and build local talent for the future.

Meet Oran Palmer, a shining example of how talent, hard work, and opportunity can build a successful future.

Oran first joined Dumfries and Galloway College on the Construction Multi-Trade course, where he discovered his passion for the industry. From there, he progressed onto our Apprenticeship Programme, launched just two years ago, and is now employed locally by Hainey Construction.

Oran’s skills have already earned him national recognition. He was selected to represent Dumfries and Galloway College at the SkillBuild Competition in both 2024 and 2025, achieving 1st place in his heat on both occasions.

Facilities & Services

Student Association

Our Student Association is based right here at the Stranraer Campus, which means learners have a welcoming place to connect beyond the classroom. In addition to providing comfy seating, it also offers a football table and games console, so students can relax, recharge, and build friendships. As a result, the Student Association space has become an important hub for both social life and student support.

Study Spaces and Pods

Stranraer Campus also provides a variety of modern study spaces, and therefore, students can choose an environment that best suits their needs. For example, there are quiet areas for those who prefer focused, independent work. In contrast, bookable study pods are available for group projects, which makes collaboration easier and more productive. Consequently, every learner has the flexibility to study in a way that works best for them.

Zest

Zest is a hospitality training facility, and it gives our students the opportunity to learn in a real-life working environment. As a result, they can put their skills into practice while gaining valuable hands-on experience. In this way, students are able to explore the job roles they hope to move into in the future, and therefore build both confidence and employability.

Learning Partners on Campus

At Stranraer Campus, partnership working is central to our approach, and we are proud to collaborate with organisations like Skills Development Scotland. Because these partners are based directly on campus, students can conveniently access extra guidance, career advice, and tailored services. Moreover, by working together in this way, we ensure that learners benefit from a joined-up approach to both education and employability. Ultimately, this dedication to partnership working strengthens opportunities for students and supports our wider community.
