Moving On to Further Education (NQ) @ SCQF Level 3

Introduction

This course could be for you if you feel you would benefit from having a supported learning environment to gain necessary knowledge and skills to help you prepare for progression to a supported learning programme at college. If you want an environment that will help you realise what your key strengths are, support you in identifying and developing aspects that you need and want to progress to a supported learning programme, or to another FE programme, or to a supported employment programme, then this course could be for you.

Duration

This is a full-time programme. You will attend classes for a minimum of 2.5 days per week for 36 weeks. All classes are face to face in college.

Entry Requirements

This course will be suitable for you if you are:  

  • A school leaver or an adult wishing to return to college 
  • Wish to develop social skills, become more independent, build your confidence and self-esteem, identify your strengths and aspirations, and discover the pathway best suited to you. 

Information and Interview Session Requirements

This is a key aspect of your application process. You will be invited for interview to which you must attend. 

 
During the interview we will discuss your aspirations and future plans and ensure this is an appropriate course for you to transition to.

Course Content

This full-time course will bring you into the college environment and will develop your skills and confidence in a supported environment that provides a transition to adult learning. The programme covers themes such as social relationships, personal finance, information technology, including digital literacy, a range of health and wellbeing topics, including mental health awareness. The programme provides opportunities to improve your communication skills, learn about the world of work and a range of many other useful skills for life, and independence.

Assessments

A variety of approaches are taken to assessment, for example: practical assessments through observation, building portfolios of evidence of outcomes attained. Assessment is ongoing throughout the session.

This course is designed as a stepping-stone into further education. You may be able to progress directly to the following on successful completion of the course: 

  • LifeSkills @ SCQF Level 3/4 
  • Project Search 
  • Passport to FE Level 4 
  • A Princes Trust Programme 
  • Or any other college FE programme that you have the entry criteria for and wish to pursue.
