Introduction
This is a 2 day requalification course for those qualified with First Aid at Work, who are due to renew their qualification (certificates valid for 3 years).
Delegates will confirm their knowledge and understanding on the role of the first aider, area assessment and dealing with major and minor illness. This course is a mix of theory and practical sessions, during which delegates will be required to demonstrate their level of knowledge and understanding of the training programme content.

Entry Requirements
Delegates must
– hold a recognised and valid First Aid at Work certificate. (must be provided on day 1 of course)
– must be 16 years or older
– must provide photographic ID – e.g. Driving Licence or passport
Course Content
On completion of this course, successful delegates should be able to:
- Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider.
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is: unresponsive (including seizure); choking or requires cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- Administer first aid to a casualty who has external bleeding, wounded or suffering from shock
- Provide first aid for minor injuries (including small cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns and scalds, small splinters)
- Administer first aid to a casualty with: injuries to bones, muscles and joints, including suspected spinal injuries; chest injuries; burns and scalds; eye injuries; sudden poisoning and anaphylactic shock
- Recognise the presence of major illness and provide management of appropriate first aid (including heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, asthma, diabetes)
This course is a very practical course so you must be able to get up and down from the floor. Due to the nature of regulated first aid assessment, there will be a requirement to will work in very close proximity with others.
Assessments
Candidates will be practically assessed continuously throughout the course along with supplementary theory questions.

- Long Term health condition/ illness
- No Limited work experience.
- Refugee
- Substance related conditions
- Lack of Transport
