Net Zero Accelerator

Introduction

In collaboration with Net Zero Nation, this programme aims to guide businesses, particularly small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), through the complexities of Net Zero commitments with minimal disruption to their daily operations.
Participants also gain access to Notch software for the duration of the programme, providing a straightforward tool for tracking and managing carbon emissions.

This comprehensive programme educates businesses and connects them with a community of like-minded organisations dedicated to creating a sustainable future. As the journey to net-zero is usually company wide, this programme can include several members of your team to support your progress.

A core focus of the Net Zero Accelerator is continuous improvement. Participants are encouraged to keep reducing and removing carbon over time, with regular evaluations that track their progress. This focus on sustained growth rather than quick wins ensures businesses can embed sustainability deeply within their operations, making it a fundamental part of their identity and strategy.

Course Content

The Net Zero Accelerator is open to businesses of all sizes and sectors. Whether an organisation is a small start-up or an established business, this programme addresses their unique needs, providing them with a clear and manageable pathway to achieve Net Zero certification. Starting the Net Zero journey can seem daunting for many smaller businesses due to limited resources, complex terminology, and varied carbon measurement standards. The Accelerator breaks down the barriers using a five Ms model (Master, Measure, Manage, Momentum and Maintain) that gives guidance on the continuous improvement required for a drive towards Net Zero, backed-up with hands-on support and tailored resources.

The programme is also structured to fit into busy schedules. Participants need only commit a few hours per month, making it feasible even for time-strapped business owners. This minimal time requirement allows businesses to work toward sustainability goals without sacrificing their core operations, which can be critical for smaller teams.

The Net Zero Accelerator delivers several key outcomes, each designed to ensure businesses achieve a credible Net Zero strategy. Participants receive assistance in aligning with the UK Government’s SECR (Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting) standards and PPN 06/21 (Procurement Policy Note) compliance, which are critical for companies aiming to participate in larger supply chains.

Additional outcomes include:

Professional Carbon Accounts: Participants learn to create and maintain carbon accounts that track emissions and reductions over time. This accounting provides a solid foundation for reporting and further carbon-reduction measures.

Carbon Benchmarking and Reduction Plans: Businesses develop tailored carbon reduction plans, which outline actionable steps to reduce emissions in a practical, measurable way.

Net Zero Pathway Certification: Achieving certification is a powerful endorsement of a business’s commitment to sustainability and can open doors to new clients, partners, and commercial opportunities.

Membership in the Net Zero Nation Ecosystem: Beyond the programme, participants gain access to a community of Net Zero thought leaders, providing ongoing support and inspiration long after their initial training.

And more…

The programme facilitates the creation of new connections and collaborations, both locally and nationally, through the Net Zero Nation Ecosystem. This network offers a unique opportunity to learn from other businesses, share strategies, and stay informed about the latest sustainability trends. Feedback from previous participants highlights the community aspect as a valuable part of the experience, providing both practical advice and moral support. As one participant noted, this shared journey “transforms a challenging path into one that’s inspiring and attainable.”

The Net Zero Accelerator also promotes brand growth by helping businesses communicate their sustainability efforts effectively to customers and stakeholders. Businesses can build a positive brand image through a structured communication strategy while engaging their audience in their sustainability goals.
