Additionally, this course will expand your knowledge of nutrition and health within the context of health and social care settings. Unit 1: Understanding Person-Centred Thinking and Planning
This unit focuses on developing your knowledge of the principles and practices behind person-centred thinking, planning, and reviews. You will explore how adopting a person-centred approach positively impacts individuals and their families. Additionally, the unit covers key legislation, policies, and guidance that support person-centred thinking and planning.
Unit 2: Care Planning for the Care Worker
In this unit, you will learn about the process of care planning in relation to your role. You will understand how to create and implement care plans effectively while considering how personal beliefs and preferences may influence the care planning process.
Unit 3: Understanding Nutrition and Hydration in Health and Social Care Settings
This unit will help you understand the vital role of nutrition and hydration in promoting overall health and well-being. You will study the fundamentals of a balanced diet, the significance of special dietary needs, and strategies to prevent malnutrition in health and social care environments.
Unit 4: Principles of Supporting an Individual to Maintain Personal Hygiene
In this unit, you will explore the importance of addressing personal hygiene with sensitivity and respect, ensuring that you maintain the dignity of individuals. You will also learn how to support individuals with personal hygiene while being mindful of their preferences and needs.
Unit 5: Understanding Continence Care
This unit aims to deepen your understanding of bodily waste functions and the causes of incontinence. You will learn how to promote continence and respect individual choices, as well as explore the various aids and facilities available to support individuals in managing their continence needs.
Unit 6: Principles of Supporting Sleep
In this unit, you will discover the significance of sleep for an individual’s health and well-being. You will gain insights into how to assist individuals in achieving a restful sleep and ensure the environment is conducive to their sleep needs.
Throughout this course, you will have access to high-quality e-learning resources that will guide you through each unit, ensuring you develop the knowledge and skills necessary to support individuals in a care setting.
Assessments
Learners will need to complete a series of tutor-marked assignments (typically one after each unit) as they move through the course. Each assignment will include a range of tasks and questions. These assignments are assessed by your tutor to track progress, and you will receive constructive feedback to support you in meeting the required standards for each unit.
