Introduction
The Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQs) in Professional Cookery recognise the knowledge and skills of candidates working in the hospitality sector. These vocational qualifications are based on the standards developed by People 1st, the sector skills council for hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism. This Modern Apprenticeship is intended for people who are employed as chefs, Head Chefs and kitchen Managers.

This Modern Apprenticeship can be completed over 1 to 2 years.
Entry Requirements
National 4 Intermediate 1 or above
Course Content
Various units which total 16 will be chosen by you the candidate and your appointed assessor which suit your working environment.
You will also need to attend college on day release to complete mandatory enhancements such as REHIS Intermediate Food Hygiene (4 full days in college) and REHIS Health & Safety.
Assessments
Work plans and up-loading of information will be required throughout your Modern Apprenticeship as well as completing online tests to establish your progression.
Progression
Candidates who successfully complete their level 2 can progress onto their level 3 Professional Cookery this could also open up opportunities for further employment or promotion within the hospitality industry.
Career Prospects
This qualification is well recognised in the hospitality industry and will forward anyone into a higher role within the kitchen environment.
