Introduction
Continue your path to from HNC and advance your study of fitness, health and exercise activities and related areas. This SCQF level 8 course (HND) covers a wide variety of subjects, skills and knowledge including personal instructing, strength management, and managing sports events. All these will be useful in your future career.
The HNC and HND in Fitness, Health and Exercise provides the opportunity to gain membership with Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA).
As you will already hold the HNC you will already be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme – this is a vital component and is an investment in the trust and security of the community you will be working with. An update may be required with an associated fee for you to pay. You will be required to purchase items of sports kit/uniform if you have not already got this from your previous course

Full Time 2 or 3 days per week, additional hours for work experience and attendance in the evening may be required.
Entry Requirements
Successful completion of HNC in Fitness, Health, and Exercise qualification along with a positive learner reference.
PVG Membership with a clear record.
Information and Interview Session Requirements
Progressing students from Dumfries and Galloway College will not be required to attend an Interview session, however, you will be required to pass the HNC with a positive learner reference.
For external applicants who have completed HNC at another Scottish college, you will be expected to provide positive responses in your application relating to your course choice, your future career and your previous experiences. This is your opportunity – make the most of it. You may be phoned or offered an interview to clarify some of your responses.

Assessments
Assessment is ongoing throughout the year and includes practical assessments and project work.
Progression
On successful completion of the course, you can progress to university. Dependent on the university you may be able to gain entry to 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year of study.
