Introduction
An excellent and exciting introduction to beauty and make-up; this course provides the qualifications you need to gain a junior role within the Beauty Industry, or entry to higher level courses.
You will study basic beauty treatments for face, body and nails, make-up application techniques for the beauty salon and related subjects to National Certificate level.
You will be taught by a highly motivated and versatile team with an excellent range of industrial experience who deliver world-class student focused learning.
On successful completion of this course, you will be awarded a Level 5 National Certificate Group Award in Beauty Care.

Entry Requirements
Four National 5 qualifications at grade C or above, preferably English and a Science subject; OR
NQ/NC qualification at SCQF level 5 in Beauty Care; OR
other equivalent qualifications or experience.
You are required to be 16 years of age by August 2023 to undertake this course.

Learners will be required to attend a face-to-face interview or an interview on Teams’ video to further discuss your application. You will be invited for a group and/or individual interview where you can find out more about the course and tell us why you are interested in this subject area.

Assessments are ongoing and cover both theory and practical elements of the course.
This is a full-time course with additional home study.

The course utilises a variety of assessment methods, including practical observation, case study compilation, research projects and closed book theory papers.

Selling Points
When undertaking this award, you will study skills which are appropriate to Beauty Care and Make-up. You will study skills areas which include Customer Care, selling skills, facial skin care, day and corrective make-up and manicure.
You may then specialise in Beauty Care by undertaking Units in nail art, waxing, massage and special make-ups, reception skills and work experience in a real or simulated workplace.
You may follow Units appropriate to Make-up which include face painting, setting, and styling hair for media, drawing and colouring design skills. There is an opportunity to study related skills in competition technical skills and the production of a portfolio of your work.
You will also have the opportunity to develop transferable skills in this Group Award such as — practical skills, being responsibility for your own learning, technology skills, employability skills, attitudinal skills and planning and evaluative skills.
