    Interview

Congratulations if you have been invited to an interview!

Interviews can be intimidating, but we want you to feel as comfortable as possible so we’ve put together a few tips for a successful and confident interview.

Preparation is the key to a successful interview.

Do your research about the course you’re applying for and why you think the course would benefit you. Think about the type of questions you may be asked and prepare some answers so you’re ready and feel confident with your answers. You might want to practice with a friend or family member so you feel confident saying your answers out loud.

Information about all our courses can be found under the “Find a course” tab at the top of the page. You can also contact the admissions team with any questions about the course you have applied for – email them at admissions@dumgal.ac.uk.

Make sure you have everything you need for the interview. Some courses will ask for a short task or information about specific subjects to know about. Check your emails to find out what you have been asked to prepare for your interview with.

Your interview may take place on Microsoft Teams. Make sure you have downloaded Microsoft Teams onto a device you intend to use during the interview. If you’re unsure what to do, follow this quick guide:

    Download Microsoft Teams

When preparing for your interview, think of personal examples from everyday life showing your skills and what you could bring to the course. These personal experiences could be from a job, school, or even a club you are involved in. The skills could be anything from people skills or organisational, remember to relate them to the course you are applying for.

Showcase your skills, for example having a job or looking after an individual shows commitment and a good work ethic. Taking part in a school activity shows team-working, timekeeping, and personal organisation.

Remember to show how committed you are to your studies and have at least one question ready to ask at the interview. Interviewers want you to do well and will be willing you on at the interview.

Before your interview, try to set up a quiet area with a simple background so there are no distractions for you.

Good luck with your interview – we’re keeping our fingers crossed for you!
