Dumfries and Galloway College lecturer Shaun McEwan recently visited Lochmaben Primary School to deliver a special demonstration on electric vehicles to Primary 1 and 2 pupils.
The visit, which combined learning and fun, featured a dynamic presentation and a hands-on display of electric vehicles (EVs). Shaun’s interactive session introduced the pupils to the exciting world of EVs, showcasing how these innovative technologies are shaping the future of transport.
The demonstration included an up-close look at EV components and a discussion about their environmental benefits, helping the children understand how advancements in technology can create a cleaner, more sustainable world.
The visit is part of DGC’s ongoing commitment to community engagement and inspiring the next generation of learners. By connecting with schools and young people, the college aims to highlight the importance of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) subjects and their relevance to real-world applications.
Lecturer Shaun McEwan said: “It was a fantastic opportunity to share the wonders of electric vehicles with such an eager and curious audience. The pupils at Lochmaben Primary School were full of questions and excitement, and it was great to see their enthusiasm for learning about sustainable technology.
“I hope the session inspired them to think about the positive impact they can have on the environment and maybe even consider a future in STEM fields.”
Dumfries and Galloway College is proud to contribute to fostering an early interest in sustainability and innovation among local schoolchildren. Through initiatives such as this, the college continues to build strong connections with the community, inspiring young minds to embrace the possibilities of a brighter, greener future.
