Would you love to undertake a degree but don’t have the qualifications?
Dumfries & Galloway College in partnership with the University of West of Scotland is offering for you to start your degree programme whilst in school and get you on the pathway to your degree.
This programme will help you prepare for university and start your learning on your degree pathway.
On successful completion of the Academy Course, you will gain automatic entry into the higher course where you start working on units that will help you progress onto the first year of a Cyber Degree, delivered at DGC in partnership with UWS.

Entry Requirements
No formal entry requirements are required however you should be able to show that you have an ability to work at SCQF Level 6 and a knowledge of Microsoft packages is required.
All applicants must attend an Advice Session prior to being offered a place on the course.
If you are currently studying at the College, you will also require a positive Progressing Learner Reference.
Information and Interview Session Requirements
Once we have received your application you will be asked to attend an informal information and interview session.
This is a key aspect of the application process. You must confirm your attendance should you be offered an appointment.
During the information and interview session, we will ensure the entry requirements and your aspirations and career plan are appropriate for the course and the level of course you have applied for. It is therefore important that you prepare well for this.
During your information and interview session, lecturers will be scoring your suitability for a place on the course based on the following criteria on meeting the entry requirements.
Course Content
You will complete units such as Introduction to University along with units such as Ethical Hacking and Digital Forensics
Assessments
Assessments are undertaken by continual assessments throughout the year.
Progression
Progression: Successful completion will allow direct entry into Foundation Academy S6
Career Prospects
The Degree award will prepare candidates for entry to a wide range of positions including:
Data Protection Manager, Ethical Hacker, Forensics Engineer, Information Security Architect, Information Systems Auditor, Penetration Tester, Security Analyst, Security Incident Response team member, Security Software Developer, Virus Technician, Vulnerability Assessor.
The above positions are just some examples of a wider range of suitable posts.
