This is a Skills for Work Award which will be delivered to you as school pupils at Dumfries and Galloway College. It will help you to develop your skills and knowledge in a variety of recreation and sports and can help prepare you for employment within the field of Sport and Fitness.

You should have a strong interest in Sports and Fitness

You should be physically fit as there is a strong emphasis on practical participation

It would be helpful if you were studying towards or hold N4 English and other relevant subject areas such as PE, Biology or Nutrition
Information and Interview Session Requirements
There is no interview requirement for this course. Offers will be made based on your application so please be sure to answer the application questions fully.
Course Content
You will learn about the sport and fitness sector. You will develop an excellent work ethic including timekeeping and a positive responsible attitude, health, and safety issues in a variety of sporting activities, technical knowledge and skills in planning and setting up equipment and skills in making training plans and setting goals for others.

Assessment is ongoing throughout the year.
Progression
On successful completion of the course, you can progress to a range of sport and fitness courses at Dumfries and Galloway College. It may also enable you to progress on to Higher PE at your school.
